Third edit! A new composter was finally sent from the seller. It is an upgraded model calling it a kitchen waste disposer instead of composter but works exactly like the other one did on my first try. It also appears to have a redesigned gear. I deducted the one star based on the frustration of reaching the seller and lack of help from Amazon. I did place it in my garage to make ready room on my sink and am very happy with the lack of smell.Edited from 5 star review! I loved this machine until an avocado pit was accidentally thrown in during Christmas dinner and jammed the mechanism in the pail making it USELESS’I have been 3 weeks contacting the company both on their website and by email. NO REPLY! Buyer beware. The avocado pit is not even listed on the instructions.I will update again if they reply.This composter worked very well. I had to put a towel under it to slide it out from under the cabinet to open the lid, it is that sturdy. I love the clean lines and cleaning cycle. It is quiet, easy to use and easy to remove finished product. It seals well and the charcoal works great a absorbing odors. It looks good on my counter. It just seems weird to bring green waste into the kitchen to chop and process instead of taking my food scraps out. (I have started using my blower with vacuum attachment to chop up the plants.) I placed a galvanized can with lid outside to dump my finished compost in.
